Iran Outlines Demand Rejecting US Truce Proposal
(MENAFN) Iran has submitted its response to the latest US proposal aimed at ending the conflict, delivering it through Pakistani intermediaries, while outlining a set of political, economic, and security demands tied to the war and sanctions regime, according to reports.
Iranian state media said the response was formally passed to Pakistan, which continues to act as the main mediator between Tehran and Washington.
US President Donald Trump rejected the Iranian reply, describing it as “totally unacceptable.”
Iran’s foreign ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei characterized the proposal as “generous and responsible,” arguing that Tehran is focused on ending the war and what it describes as hostile maritime actions against its shipping rather than negotiating under pressure.
The exchange follows extended negotiations held in Islamabad, which reportedly lasted more than 21 hours but ended without agreement.
Iranian officials and media outlets have blamed the breakdown on what they call overly strict US conditions involving the nuclear program, sanctions, and control over maritime routes such as the Strait of Hormuz.

According to Iranian reports and statements cited by media, Tehran’s response is based on an expanded negotiation framework that evolved through several rounds of indirect talks.
Iran is primarily seeking a comprehensive end to the conflict across multiple fronts, particularly in Lebanon, along with an end to restrictions on maritime activity in the region.
It is also demanding the immediate lifting of what it describes as a naval blockade affecting Iranian shipping, alongside an end to military actions targeting its commercial vessels.
Additional conditions include security guarantees against future attacks, restoration of stable maritime navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, and the removal of sanctions on Iranian oil exports within a 30-day period.
Iran has also requested the release of frozen financial assets and formal acknowledgment of a regional role in managing transit through the Strait of Hormuz.
Reports further indicate that Tehran is seeking a mechanism for compensation related to wartime damage as part of any broader settlement.
