Netanyahu Appears in Court Again as Long-Running Corruption Trial Continues
(MENAFN) Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu appeared before the District Court in Tel Aviv on Tuesday for another hearing in his ongoing corruption trial, marking his 86th court appearance since proceedings began, according to reports.
Netanyahu is facing charges tied to bribery, fraud, and breach of trust in three separate investigations commonly referred to as Cases 1000, 2000, and 4000. Formal indictments in the cases were filed in 2019.
Reports said questioning related to Case 4000 has concluded, while proceedings connected to Case 2000 are now continuing. Hearings associated with Case 1000 reportedly ended in late 2025.
The Israeli premier has consistently denied all allegations since the trial began in 2020. Under Israeli law, a presidential pardon generally requires an admission of guilt by the defendant.
Case 1000 centers on accusations that Netanyahu and members of his family accepted expensive gifts from prominent businessmen in exchange for political or personal favors.
Case 2000 involves allegations that Netanyahu held discussions with media publisher Arnon Mozes concerning favorable news coverage from an Israeli newspaper.
Meanwhile, Case 4000 focuses on claims that regulatory advantages were granted to businessman Shaul Elovitch, former owner of the Walla news website and a telecommunications executive, in return for positive media coverage.
Separately, reports note that Netanyahu has also faced international legal scrutiny connected to the war in Gaza since 2024.
