Trump to Report for Routine Checkup at Walter Reed May 26

(MENAFN) US President Donald Trump will undergo his annual physical examination on May 26 at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, the White House confirmed Monday, as scrutiny over the commander-in-chief's health continues to intensify.

"This will include the president's routine annual dental and medical assessments as part of his regular preventive health care," it said in a statement. "The president will also spend time with service members and staff at Walter Reed in recognition of their service, professionalism, and dedication to the nation."

At 79, Trump has faced a steady drumbeat of public questions regarding his physical condition, fueled by recurring visible bruising on his hands — marks that have persisted despite the frequent application of makeup. The White House and the president himself have attributed the bruising to a daily aspirin regimen and the physical demands of high-volume handshaking inherent to his office.

Separately, Trump has been observed on multiple occasions with noticeably swollen ankles, a condition his physicians have linked to chronic venous insufficiency.

His most recent dental visit took place May 2, during one of his customary weekend stays in Florida.

Questions surrounding Trump's health deepened last October when he disclosed that he had undergone a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan during a second hospital visit the prior year — without revealing why the test was ordered or which part of his body it examined. He subsequently walked back that account, clarifying the scan was in fact a CT scan, and expressed regret over having disclosed it, acknowledging the revelation had invited unwanted scrutiny.

Trump is set to turn 80 in June, already holding the distinction of being the oldest US president ever inaugurated, having been sworn into office in January 2025.
