Kremlin Says Russia Open to Dialogue with Europe
Speaking during a briefing, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said Moscow supports the idea of resolving disagreements through negotiation and welcomed statements from some European political figures who have called for a more pragmatic approach to relations with Russia.
He noted that Russia views negotiations as the appropriate way to address conflicting interests and disagreements, suggesting that dialogue remains the only viable path to resolving tensions.
However, he also cautioned that it is too early to assume any broader shift in Europe’s overall policy direction toward Moscow. He pointed out that, alongside more conciliatory remarks from some politicians, other statements coming from European institutions continue to reflect a more critical stance.
Peskov added that Russia does not currently act as a mediator in wider international conflicts but could play a supportive role if needed to help facilitate agreements between parties involved.
He also described broader geopolitical developments in the Middle East as unstable and unpredictable, expressing hope that diplomatic processes would continue and that the situation would not escalate further.
Separately, discussions referenced ongoing international negotiations involving the United States and Iran, which have been taking place in different diplomatic formats with varying levels of progress, though no final agreement has been reached so far.
