Real Madrid Star Mbappe Suffers Knee Sprain

(MENAFN) Real Madrid on Monday released a medical update on striker Kylian Mbappe, confirming the French international has sustained a sprain in his left knee.

The statement, published on the club’s official website, came five days after Mbappe missed the UEFA Champions League home victory over Benfica and just hours before the La Liga clash with Getafe, where he was again absent from the squad.

“Following the tests conducted on our player Kylian Mbappe by French specialist doctors, under the supervision of Real Madrid's Medical Services, the diagnosis of a sprain in the left knee and the suitability of the conservative treatment being followed are confirmed,” the club said.

No timeline for his return was provided, with the club noting only that recovery was “pending evolution.”

Mbappe has been a key figure this season, scoring 23 goals in La Liga and 13 in the Champions League. His availability is now uncertain for Friday’s league fixture against Celta Vigo and the two-legged Champions League tie against Manchester City on March 11 and 17.

The injury has reportedly troubled him for around three months, with the forward playing through discomfort before opting to rest after a dip in form.
