China commits to curb fentanyl precursors— FBI Director

(MENAFN) FBI Director Kash Patel announced Wednesday that China has agreed to implement measures to stop the production of fentanyl precursors and to regulate seven chemical subsidiaries involved in their manufacture.

Speaking at the White House about his recent trip to Beijing, Patel said, “While at Ministry of Public Security headquarters … the Chinese government agreed on a plan to stop fentanyl precursors.” He noted that China has fully designated and enlisted all 13 chemicals used to make fentanyl.

In addition, China has committed to controlling seven chemical subsidiaries involved in producing the dangerous opioid, Patel added. He also highlighted that the FBI has seized 1,900 kilograms of fentanyl, marking a 31% increase compared to the same period last year.
