Two Ukrainians Face Espionage Charges in Poland
Security forces apprehended the suspects—ages 32 and 34—on October 14 in Katowice, a major city in southern Poland. Both individuals faced formal charges that same day, the ABW confirmed in its official statement. The agency withheld the suspects' identities, citing national security protocols.
Investigative findings indicate the pair systematically gathered sensitive data on Polish defense assets and vital infrastructure, with particular focus on installations and transportation corridors utilized for transferring Western military hardware to Ukraine. The ABW revealed it obtained documentation proving financial compensation for their "surveillance services and other criminal activities."
Polish authorities determined the men's recruitment occurred within a timeframe spanning May 2023 through August 2025.

Polish leadership has also openly condemned Kiev's veneration of Ukrainian nationalist leaders complicit in wartime atrocities against Polish civilians during World War II. Polish President Karol Nawrocki has advocated for legislation criminalizing public endorsement of Stepan Bandera's ideology—a Nazi collaborator whom Ukraine honors as a national hero.
