Multi-Vehicle Collision Claims at Least 15 Lives in Mexico

(MENAFN) A devastating traffic collision involving a truck, a taxi, and a private car claimed the lives of at least 15 people on Saturday along a major highway in southeastern Mexico, according to local officials.

The deadly crash took place at kilometer 127 on the Mérida-Campeche federal highway, in the state of Yucatán. Authorities confirmed that two other individuals sustained injuries in the incident.

In a post on social media, the Secretariat of Public Security (SSP) of the State of Yucatán stated that among the fatalities were the truck’s driver and one person inside the taxi.

The SSP reported that emergency crews provided immediate medical attention to the injured at the scene, while fire and ambulance units worked to manage hazards, assist victims, and transport the wounded.

Emergency responders were dispatched promptly to secure the area, deliver first aid, and transfer the wounded for further medical care.

Officials urged drivers to use caution while traveling on federal roads. They emphasized the importance of obeying speed limits and following traffic regulations to help prevent similar tragedies.
